Amalgam or RBC: what factors affect a dentist’s choice?

With the increasing availability of new dental materials, choice of material is an important part of a dentist’s decision-making process.

recent study in the Journal of the American Dental Association found that dentists used amalgam more often than resin-based composites (RBC) for posterior carious lesions. The study investigated whether certain practitioner and patient characteristics are associated with the types of materials that dentists select.
